Approx. 700 km of well-signposted hiking and walking trails, including theme and nature trails, are waiting for you in the Schwemmalm hiking paradise and in the Stelvio National Park. Moreover, you can take part in challenging mountain and glacier tours - because it's truly worth discovering the Ultental mountains from head to toe!

A paradise for climbers

After a holiday in the Ultental Valley, you probably won't be able to climb like Reinhold Messner, but almost, because thanks to plenty of high-alpine climbing tours - with overwhelming panorama views from the peak - and the new, top-equipped Climbing Hall in S. Pancrazio gyou have a lot of training opportunities - and no more excuses! ;)

Motorbike holidays on mountains & pass roads

Step on the gas... and off you go, from the Ultental Valley through the Alta Val di Non to the idyllic Lake Garda: our Hotel Schweigl is the ideal starting point for wonderful motorbike tours in South Tyrol - and not only! The Alpine region is dotted with many winding mountain and pass roadswith breathtaking panoramic views and countless opportunities to stop for a bite to eat. Looking for a motorbike tour tip? Bike & e-bike adventures in S. Valburga

How about crossing the Ultental Valley comfortably on the e-bike enjoying the stunning panorama all around? Or would you prefer something more adrenaline-pumping - for example, a MTB tour at dizzy mountain heights? Road cyclists can let off steam on the challenging mountain roads of the Val d'Ultimo and the Alta Val di Non. No bike with you? No problem: you can rent mountain bikes (free of charge) and e-bikes (for a fee) at our hotel. We recommend a ride around Lake Zoccolo, through the Kirchberg Valley, to the Fiechter alpine hut, the Auerberg alpine hut or the Kuppelwieser alpine hut! Once back, you can safely store your bike in our lockable bike depot

Fishing & fly-fishing in the Valley of alpine lakes

19 mountain lakes and 4 reservoirsmake fishermen's hearts beat faster in the Ultental Valley. Watch fishes in the clear water, enjoy the peace and quiet and the landscape all around you... Congratulations, you've already caught a fish! 😊 In the Ultental Valley also fly-fishingpassionates have a suitable spot for their favourite activity: the Valsura river. Also the Lake Zoccolo is only 1 km away from our hotel.

Horse riding holidays at Hotel Schweigl

Alpine adventure on horseback - In the village of Pracupola, about 4 km away from our hotel, there is a public riding stable. Here, horse lovers can enjoy breathtaking rides through unspoilt meadows and forests. Well then … into the saddle, ready, go!

Paragliding over the Schwemmalm

Paragliding is really cool! And it gets even cooler in the flying area of the Schwemmalm ski and hiking area - perfect for ambitious paragliders & beginners alike. In winter, the ski area offers launch sites up to 2,600 m, in summer up to 2,000 m. You can also climb the local mountain "Mutegg" and then launch from ist summit – and together with the experienced paragliding pilot Günther Garber, the flight will not only be exciting, but also safe!

Step by step through the Ultental Paradise

Do you have your Nordic Walking poles with you? Then let's go! Where? Through meadows and forest paths in the unspoilt nature. When? Whenever you like. How? Alone or in company, surrounded by soothing silence and impressive mountain views. Why? To strengthen the cardiovascular, immune and metabolic systems with some healthy exercise.

Water adventures for young & old

Take a dip in our pool and relax in the relaxation area or on the sunbathing lawn. Would you like even more water fun? Then off to the public outdoor swimming pool in S. Valburga (free admission with UltentalCard). The bravest among you can also take a plunge into one of the many alpine lakes of the Val d'Ultimo.

Summer city & museum tours

How about a trip to the nearby spa town of Merano? Do some shopping under the city arcades, relax in the Thermal Baths or see plants from all over the world in the Gardens of Trauttmansdorff Castle. Otherwise you can visit Bolzano with the Museion - Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art or the Ötzi Museum?

Other highlights nearby: Stelvio National Park, Messner Mountain Museum in Firmiano, Labyrinth Garden in Cermes, Renon's famous Earth Pyramids, KnottnKino between Avelengo and Verano, Bletterbach Gorge in Aldino, Castle Tyrol and many historic churches scattered throughout the Merano region.

And if it rains?

.. we have plenty of bad weather tips for you: e.g. some healthy relaxation in the Schweigl wellness area, a tasty drink at our hotel bar or a funny ludo tournament in our hotel lounge - you'll see, the rain will be soon forgotten!
Alternatively, you can explore the surrounsding area on foot, by car or public transport (free with the UltentalCard), do a shopping tour in the nearby farm shops and farmhouses, wineries and cheese dairies, or a city tour in Merano, Bolzano or Bressanone.
